Background

Puget Sound Energy is a private corporation, but because they are a utility they are quasi-governmental.  They are required to file an Integrated Resources Plan with the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission, and they also have requirements for public engagement as part of the Clean Energy Transformation Act (CETA).  We don't have a lot of knowledge about PSE, but 350 Seattle has a policy group dedicated to following PSE.

While the state UTC normally would probe Wednesday’s accident, Sawant wrote that the investigation needs to be much broader in scope, to include a comprehensive review of PSE’s entire gas piping and infrastructure system and an evaluation of the risks of future leaks, fires, and explosions.
